Yanira + Raul's Spring Wedding at Harper Hall in Lexington, Kentucky

Live saxophone, a grandfather's serenade, and 155 people who showed up with their whole hearts.

Some weddings are beautiful. Some weddings are fun. Every once in a while, you get one that's both of those things and also just deeply, genuinely full of love in a way that you feel the entire day. Yanira and Raul's April 26th wedding at Harper Hall in Lexington, Kentucky was that kind of wedding.

There were 155 guests who came ready to celebrate, cultural traditions woven through every part of the day, a live saxophonist, two DJs running back-to-back sets, and a first dance moment that had the whole room in tears. We had the honor of coordinating this one alongside our team at The Social Edit, and it's a day we'll be talking about for a long time.

Yanira and Raul are the kind of couple that brings everyone around them into the joy of what they have. Their wedding day felt like a true reflection of who they are: warm, celebratory, deeply rooted in family, and completely themselves from start to finish.

The Venue: Harper Hall

Harper Hall sits right in the heart of downtown Lexington at 177 N. Upper St. The space is intimate enough to feel personal with 155 guests but large and elevated enough to serve larger headcounts as well. With white and black floor-length linens on 25 round tables, chiavari chairs, tall cocktail tables, and candlelight throughout, the room had a warmth and richness that set the tone from the moment guests walked in.

One of the things that made Harper Hall work so well for Yanira and Raul's day is the multi-level layout. The ceremony took place on one level, then cocktail hour moved upstairs, and the reception flowed seamlessly from there. It let the day feel like it had chapters rather than one long stretch, which kept the energy up the entire time.

The bridal party also took advantage of Gratz Park close by for portraits, which is right in the neighborhood and a popular outdoor portrait location in Lexington. (Pro-tip: You can fit portraits at Gratz Park into your timeline for any downtown wedding location, like Limestone Hall, Mane on Main, etc. Make sure to talk through logistics with your coordinator and budget time accordingly.)

The First Look Moments

Before the ceremony, Yanira had a first look with her dad on the patio at Harper Hall that set the emotional tone for the rest of the day. Those moments between a bride and her father are always something, and this one was no different.

Right after, Yanira and Raul shared their own first look, complete with private vows before the ceremony. It's one of our favorite things when couples choose to do this because it gives them a real moment together before the day gets moving and everyone wants a piece of them. They came out of that first look glowing, and it showed in every photo from that point forward.

The Ceremony at Harper Hall

The ceremony at Harper Hall was layered with meaning and cultural tradition in the best possible way. The ceremony included lazos, arras, and anillos, traditional elements that honored Yanira and Raul's heritage and made the ceremony feel like it truly belonged to them rather than just a generic script.

The recessional was performed live by saxophonist Victor Guzman, and the party started from there. There's nothing quite like a live instrument at a wedding, and Victor brought a level of energy and warmth to the close of the ceremony that you simply can't replicate with a playlist.

Cocktail Hour

While Yanira and Raul signed their marriage license and captured immediate family photos, guests moved upstairs for cocktail hour with Victor's saxophone still setting the tone. It kept the energy alive during that transition time in a way that felt seamless and celebratory.

The Reception

When it was time to bring guests into the reception, a video played on screens both upstairs and downstairs before the bridal party was introduced. Yanira and Raul held back until the moment was right, and when DJ ZAGA announced them for the very first time as a married couple in both English and Spanish, the room erupted.

Then came the first dance, and this is the part we'll never forget.

Yanira and Raul danced to "Can't Help Falling in Love" sung live by Yanira's grandfather. The room went completely quiet except for his voice. There are details from weddings that stick with you, and this was one of them. It was personal and irreplaceable and completely unforgettable.

La Taquiza handled catering with a buffet-style setup (that was AMAZING!) where servers plated for guests, and the food was a hit all night. The cake from Martine's Pastries was delicious as always. The full setup, from Nadia's Elegant Events handling the altar riser and sweetheart table backdrop to the elements we set up, cheesecloth table runners, vases, candles, tinsel poms, and lamps, made the room feel rich and intentional without being overdone.

DJ LEXO took over for the open dance portion and kept the floor packed from the moment it opened. The dollar dance brought the whole crowd in, the energy didn't let up, and by the time the sparkler exit happened, every single person there had gotten everything they came for.
